Jeffrey Dorf President
Jeffrey is an experienced engineer, technical writer, and design-builder who has earned a reputation as an energetic advocate for the data center industry. He is often called upon to moderate or participate on industry panels, and is the founder of the Arizona and Silicon Valley Data Center Awards programs, as well as the Silicon Desert Data Center Conference. His work on data center incentives is well know, and his data center blog receives over three thousand unique visits every month.
With oversight of the Mission Critical Practice for the M+W Group, and having worked on data center projects for the largest technology and social media companies in the world, as well as some of the best know colocation providers, Jeffrey brings a well-rounded perspective to his role with the Data Center Alliance.
Harold Simmons Executive Director
An experienced big picture strategist with the unique ability to evaluate business landscapes and help companies create/implement strategic plans that lead to a competitive advantage. He holds a a Masters and Bachelors degree in Communication and has acquired additional Corporate Strategy training from HBS.
Currently, in his role at UMP (founded as United Metal Products, Inc,) his external focus is on helping companies reduce their OPEX associated with their mission critical infrastructure. Working with some of the largest companies in the world, including several Fortune 50 organizations, his aim at UMP has been to develop symbiotic alliances with other businesses in the data center marketplace. Providing end users with innovative, energy efficient cooling systems which significantly reduce their TCO. By understanding the overall landscape of the market, he recognizes the main issues in the industry and enables his team to create valuable solutions.
Michael Ortiz Board Member
With a foundation in commercial real estate / investment banking spanning nearly two decades, Michael's role with DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) as Vice President of Site Selection / Acquisitions serves to be one where his depth and knowledge of the data center sector will enable DFT to gain an advantage over the competition by expanding the company's portfolio anticipating where the market is going versus reacting to where the market has proven itself.
Prior to DFT, Michael served Colliers International (Technology Solutions Practice) as their market leader for the Southwest Region with practice specialization in end user representation and investment sales across the IT sector.
Prior to Colliers, Michael served in leadership roles with Digital Realty, Equity Office Properties and the investment bank of JPMorgan. Michael is a graduate of Indiana University Kelley School of Business receiving his MBA in 2006.
Michael's approach to the client and provider is straightforward and transparent. A simplified approach to the ever changing Technology sectors is delivered & he has received high praise from clients for changing their perceptions of how real estate brokers do business.
Greg Davit Board Member
As the Vice-President of Business Development for Aligned Data Centers Greg draws on his 20 years of experience in the colocation and data center industry. With his focused leadership and ability to manage multiple accounts, he has proven to be a reliable business development expert who continuously meets the demands of his clients.
Prior to joining the Aligned Data Centers team, Greg was the Channel Business Development Officer at IO where he provided wholesale colocation and data center solutions in a strategic and cost effective way. Previously a Sales Executive at Mobius Management Systems and a Regional Sales Manager at Blackboard.
Greg graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Arizona State University.
Nicole Gallow Board Member
With over a decade of hi-tech marketing experience Nicole Gallow serves as Marketing Director for the Global Data Center Alliance. She is currently with BASELAYER Technology, a modular data center and DCIM provider headquartered in Chandler, Arizona. Prior to joining BASELAYER (a spin-off of IO Data Centers), Nicole lead marketing efforts for several technology companies in Arizona. She also has experience running her own upstart. Originally from the state of New York she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Niagara University.
Geoff Shumway Board Member
The Arizona Commerce Authority is the leading economic development organization for the State of Arizona. Helping companies expand and grow operations by offering financial and technical assistance. They provide meaningful connectivity to support strategic partnerships for supply chain management and business development.
Geoff's primary focus at the ACA is promoting the expansion of enterprise and middle market businesses in the IT, Advanced Manufacturing, Financial Services and Healthcare sectors in Arizona. Since joining the ACA, as VP of Business Expansion, he has facilitated more than 70 company expansions, resulting in nearly $1B of capital investment and over 7000 jobs. He serves as a principal contact for company executives of some of Arizona's largest and most critical employers, as well as economic development partners in the private and public sectors seeking consultation on site selection, state tax and regulatory environment, workforce and numerous statutory incentive programs.
Brad Smidt Board Member
Brad currently leads the business development large project transaction team for office, industrial and data center projects. He lead the data center practice at GPEC and has worked with over 600 companies. While with GPEC he successfully assisted over 150 companies relocate to and expand in the Greater Phoenix area. He teamed with the Arizona Data Center Coalition to facilitate a sales tax exemption bill in AZ for targeted data center investments.
Robert Andrews Board Member
Mr. Andrews’ expertise and achievements stem from 38 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. Since 1992, Mr. Andrews has dedicated himself to construction management of mission critical facilities with extensive experience in live data center environments, in some of the most demanding environments, including the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Andrews has managed projects from contract negotiations to site selection, pre-construction / construction to commissioning on numerous projects globally. These icon co-location providers and enterprise opportunities have been located throughout the United States, Ireland, UK, Singapore and the Middle East. Due to the industry speed to market, all had aggressive schedules and ranged in size from from 1MW to 100MW and Tier 1 to Tier 4 redundancy levels. He has successfully delivered projects as the project manager or project executive of
numerous high profile clients, including ARAMCO, Bank of Oman, Pacnet Asia, Ministry of Interior Saudi, AT&T, Apple, Google, Equinix, Century Link, Digital Reality Trust, Morgan Stanley, BB&T, Dell and Automotive Club of America totaling over 8 million square feet.
Ginez Toromazote Board Member
Ginez’s 20 years of IT and mission critical infrastructure experience has focused on assisting national and global enterprises with leverage cutting edge technology that results in financial growth that directly impacts both top and bottom line revenue. Currently orchestrating national sales growth strategies at H5 Data Centers, Ginez serves as an experienced senior sales leader.
Collaborating with some of the most tech radical global companies, Ginez has led direct, indirect, and strategic alliances sales efforts with and for: Global Telecom Carriers, International Healthcare and Financial Institutions, Biochemical, Oil and Energy, Mining, Durable Goods, Marketing and Digital Marketing Global and Multinational Agencies, Government, Software, Gaming, Content Delivery, Global Media and Entertainment companies.
Alongside the GDCA, Ginez continues to nurture the same audience at H5 Data Centers out of Phoenix, AZ, a technology hub that is quickly rising as a Tier 1 Data Center Market. Placing mission critical infrastructure is the most important variable for a secure, reliable, and efficient business to withstand the arduous test of time, a challenge he is always ready to overcome.
Christine Mackay Board Member
Christine Mackay was named Community and Economic Development Director with the City of Phoenix in August, 2014. She is responsible for leading the Business Development Team, including the areas of business attraction, business retention and expansion, small business and entrepreneurial efforts, downtown development, international, retail and workforce development.
During the past five years, she has helped locate or expand more than 180 companies into the Region, brought more than 26,000 jobs, added nearly 5 million square feet to the industrial/office base and brought more than $7 billion in capital investment in to the community. Some of the companies Christine has worked are American Express, Uber, Bank of America, PayPal, Facility Source, Wells Fargo, Intel, Aligned Energy, General Motors, Galvanize, WebPT, Orbital Sciences, Honeywell, Famer’s Insurance, Avnet, and Banner Health, to name a few.
In 2016, Christine was named the Economic Developer of the Year, by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED). In 2010, she was named Leader of the Year in Economic Development–Public Policy by the Arizona Capital Times, and in 2011 she was named Industry Leader of the Year – Economic Development by Arizona Commercial Real Estate and in 2012 she was named one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Arizona.
Jason Brunen Board Member
As Digital Realty’s Technical Account Manager covering key global accounts Jason draws upon more than a decade of experience designing, building, and running data center operations in more than 17 global markets. Supporting Digital Realty’s sales teams his unique talent for solving modern day business problems with technology makes him a valuable asset to the Fortune 500 customers he supports as they develop and implement their data center strategy.
Prior to joining Digital Realty Jason led Global Data Center Engineering and Operations for Expedia Inc., the world’s largest travel retailer comprised of Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, Expedia.com, TripAdvisor.com, and Egencia Corporate Travel. Prior to his leadership at Expedia Jason led the Highwinds Network Group’s Global Expansion Team in opening 15 new points of presence globally as Highwinds deployed their Rolling Thunder CDN network.
Jason gradated with a B.S in Management Information Systems from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
Mark Bauer Board Member
Mark Bauer is a Managing Director and Co-Leader with JLL’s global Data Center Solutions group that focuses on global representation providing real estate planning and execution of mission-critical data center relocations and expansions. With unmatched experience and knowledge in the growing multi-tenant data center environments (colocation and wholesale colocation), Mr. Bauer provides clients with strategic and tactical guidance and representation to meet investment, acquisition, leasing and development objectives.
Involved in commercial real estate for over 28 years, Mr. Bauer has specialized in the data center and colocation industry for the past two decades. Advisor to tenants, landlords, buyers and sellers, he also serves as a national consultant to brokers, clients and data center developers across the United States. His experience includes in-depth knowledge of the data center and telecommunications industries that assists clients with their mission-critical deployments of primary and disaster recovery data center needs. He has negotiated over $2.5 billion in total transaction consideration, over 20 million square feet of total transactions.
Kris Geltch Board Member
Kris is an AIC-CPC (AIC Certified Professional Constructor) and AGC CM-Lean Accredited construction professional with over 23 years experience in the commercial construction industry As Project Director with Claliente Construction, Kris has managed the successful execution of over 2,000 Mission Critical & Data Center projects for confidential telecommunications companies, the City of Phoenix, City of Mesa and Maricopa County
